Authentic

In a (Gazelle) bike shop in Antwerp, Belgium.

My husband (to the shop assistant): ‘I would like a bike for myself – what do you recommend?’

Shop assistant: ‘Now, that I look at you, the Heavy Duty model for sure.’
My husband: ‘Heavy Duty – very authentic. Describes my whole existence. Let’s find a bike to my wife, too. Do you have also models like ‘Easy Life’?’

Sex – for the good cause

Antwerp Government Office (‘stadsloket’), health prevention campaign encourages inhabitants to choose the stairs instead of the elevator:

‘Those who take the stairs have better sexual life.’

Good news: there are still some governments which think that public funds should be spent on messages serving the public interest.

Later

Our son (10): ‘Mama, I’ve heard a word and don’t know what it means.’

Me: ‘Which word is that?’

He: ‘Abortion.’

Me: ‘Well.

If a woman doesn’t want to have a child, she goes to a hospital, and the doctors, with an operation, take the baby out of her tummy, when the baby is very very very small, months before it would be born.’

He (heavily thinking): ‘Take out?’

Me: ‘Yes.’

He: ‘But… then the doctors need to do it very very carefully to make sure the baby doesn’t get hurt..’

Ok. A topic maybe for later.

Excuse me

We are buying some sweaters to our daughter in NL.
The method recommended by her is the following: I take a photo of her in each piece and then on the basis of the pics she takes the decision.
I pop the question: what if she just takes a look directly in the mirror?
From her look I conclude it was the Ultimate Evidence of Misunderstandings cross Generations.
I say a quiet ‘sorry’ and back out of the changing room with my eyes downcast.

Logic

My son (10) has just asked me if in a certain question in life my heart says one thing, while my mind says another one, which one I would listen to.

After short consideration I replied I would more likely listen to my mind.

I asked back, and he said it depends on the topic: if it is a love issue, he would listen to his heart. If it concerns a mathematical exercise, he would listen to his mind, as 2+2 will not become 128 only because he listened to his heart and 128 is his favourite number.

Logic.
